Nutritional Supplements Consultation

Nutritional Supplements Consultation

Cut through the confusion – and discover what your body really needs

If your kitchen cupboard looks like a mini pharmacy – vitamin D next to magnesium, half-empty collagen sachets, something a friend swore by for energy – you’re not alone. The supplement industry is booming, but good advice is not.

Florence Rowe, our highly-experienced, is here to guide you with the right nutritional supplements for you.

Do you really need supplements?

Supplements can absolutely support your health – but only when they’re used for the right reasons. Most people I see are taking too many, taking the wrong ones, or combining products that overlap or compete with each other.

Some are trying to boost their energy or immune system, others are supporting menopause or weight loss, but few have had proper guidance on what their body truly needs. That’s where I come in.

As a registered dietitian, I interpret your symptoms, medical background, and current supplement use through the lens of nutritional science. I’ll help you build a plan that’s targeted, safe, and genuinely effective.

What to expect from your consultation

I’m Florence Rowe, Registered Dietitian at Essex Private Doctors. I created our Nutritional Supplements Consultation because too many people are taking supplements that don’t work for them, aren’t needed, or could even be doing more harm than good.

This appointment is about bringing science and simplicity back into your supplement routine – so you can feel confident that every capsule, powder or tablet you take has a genuine purpose.

Your supplement review is a 30-minute consultation- and you’ll receive recommendations that are tailored to you and your needs.

You don’t need to prepare anything fancy – just bring yourself (and, if you’d like, your bag or list of supplements).

Together, we’ll:

  • Go through what you’re currently taking – assessing quality, dosage, and purpose.
  • Talk about how you’ve been feeling – energy, sleep, digestion, skin, mood, hormones, or weight.
  • Review your diet and routine briefly, so I can identify nutritional gaps.
  • Simplify your supplement plan so you’re only taking what truly benefits you.

You’ll leave with a streamlined, personalised supplement plan – practical, evidence-based, and cost-effective.

If you have any recent blood test results, bring them along too, but they are not a necessity.

Before your appointment

It’s helpful to:

  • Bring your current supplements (or photos of them).
  • Note down any symptoms or changes you’ve noticed recently.
  • Be open to simplifying your routine – often less is more.

Who this consultation is for

If you’re taking weight-loss medications like Wegovy® or Mounjaro® and want to protect your muscle mass and metabolism.

Are you peri-or post-menopausal, and feeling tired, achy, or foggy? Supplements can help.

Have recently been unwell, on antibiotics, or recovering from surgery.

If you feel “not quite right” – e.g. have low energy, poor sleep, hair thinning, bloating, or low mood.

Have a cupboard full of supplements but no idea what’s working.

Want to optimise your long-term health and age well.

What We’ll Discuss

  • Gut health: Probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes – especially after antibiotic use, or problems such as constipation or loose bowels.

  • Immune and inflammation support: Vitamin C, selenium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Sleep – L-theanine, Ashwagandha

Supplements and Your Health

This consultation can stand alone, or form part of a wider plan.
Many patients choose to combine it with:

  • Body Composition Analysis – to see how your nutrition affects muscle, fat, and cellular health over time.
  • Dietetic Consultations – for deeper guidance on eating habits, weight management, or metabolic optimisation.

By aligning your supplements with real data – from blood results or body composition measurements – you’ll know exactly what’s working and why.

Why professional advice matters

Supplements are not regulated as medicines. Some are unnecessary, some interact with medication, and others can be downright harmful if used incorrectly.
Getting personalised advice from a qualified, HCPC-registered dietitian ensures every supplement is safe, purposeful, and integrated with your overall health strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, some can – which is why professional guidance is essential. I’ll check for potential interactions before making any recommendations.

I recommend and supply medical-grade supplements through our trusted pharmacy and wholesale partners, ensuring quality and safety.

Mostly not, but if we suspect that investigations might be needed, I can arrange for you to have a consultation with one of our private GPs.

Absolutely. Many of my patients do both, ensuring their supplements, food, and metabolism work together for lasting results.
