BOOK YOUR WELL MAN HEALTH CHECK

Well Man Health Check

Well Man Health Check

Our Well Man health check-up is a preventative health screening designed specifically for men. It is a comprehensive check-up that will enable you to understand your current health status, as well as any health risks you may have. A significant proportion of diseases such as heart disease and cancer are preventable, or can be treated if detected early, and a health screen is an effective way to find early signs of significant health issues. It’s also a great way to gain peace of mind that you’re taking care of yourself.

Health Screening with a Private GP

You’ll have a whole hour for an in-depth consultation with a highly experienced GP, to discuss your current health, and any issues or concerns you may have. You’ll be able to discuss any mental health or stress symptoms you may be experiencing, any significant past medial history, or family history of illness.

There will be plenty of opportunity to look at your sleep, exercise, diet and lifestyle, as well as any sexual health problems or concerns.

The GP will also carry out a review of any medications you are taking.

Physical Examination

You’ll undergo a top-to-toe examination, including:

  • Weight, height and body mass index

  • Blood pressure measurement

  • ECG (heart trace) to look for heart rhythm abnormalities.

  • Examination of your heart and lungs, nervous system, abdomen, musculoskeletal system, ears and eyes, and skin.

  • Testicular examination

  • Rectal examination (to examine the prostate)

  • Urine testing

  • qFIT – Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test (which is a test that looks haemoglobin in stool and is used in the early detection of bowel cancer)

  • Full Well Man Blood Profile:
    Full blood count
    Kidney and liver function
    Thyroid profile
    Glucose
    Cholesterol and triglycerides
    Bone profile
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) if indicated
Additional bloods may also be requested

After the blood tests have been processed at the laboratory, the GP will telephone you to go through the results, and what they mean for you and your health. You’ll then receive a comprehensive report about the findings from your screening, which many include health-optimisation or lifestyle change recommendations.
If the health screening reveals a problem that may need further attention (for example, if your blood pressure reading is high), the GP can assist you either by taking you through further tests or investigations, an onward referral to a specialist, or by making recommendations to your own NHS or Private GP.
